Amble Bord Waalk and Hauxley
Amble Bord Waalk (Northumbrian speak for Bird Walk) is a celebration of the sea birds of Amble. The combination of sculptures, writings and audio makes for a unique experience.

The start – Amble
We will start by the harbour and see many of the art installations in Amble itself. On the way we will see artworks including Uplift, Cracked Eggs, Peace Sculpture, Recycled Terns and Bird Heads.
We can also listen to some of the The Bird Roads podcasts on the way.
The Braid
We’ll then walk along The Braid and see some of the most spectacular artworks on the trail. These are Bird Song, Flock Sphere and Tern Wings.
Dokie’s Egg
Dokie’s Egg is one of the most visible of the artworks, as it is situated by the road and the river Coquet, on the way from Amble to Warkworth. Locally a dokie is a guillemot. This is a representation of a giant guillemots egg. It also contains poetry about the local birds.
To Hauxley
We will take a route to Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre, where we will take a break, while watching the birds.
Back to Amble
From Hauxley, we will walk back up the coast, taking in the remaining artworks on the way. These are Flight, Brick Tree, Murmuration and The Great Puffin.
On arriving back into Amble, we will pay a visit to the last artwork, Sanctuary, before calling at The Customs House tearoom.
