Bamburgh and Seahouses
Bamburgh and Seahouses visits two of the great places on the Northumbrian coast. Historical Bamburgh, with Bamburgh Castle dominating the village. Seahouses is a tourist hotspot and fishing village, famous for fish and chips and boat trips to the Farne Islands.

We will start in one of the beach car parks to the North of Bamburgh and take the path directly onto the beach. This will provide spectacular views of the Castle, coastline and out to sea. You might also see the decorated tank traps on the beach.
The beach to Seahouses is one of the best in Northumberland. You get a great view of Bamburgh Castle from the beach. As we walk further, past Redbarn Links, the people thin out and we can enjoy the open space of the beach. It narrows around the rocks at Monks House, before opening out a bit at St Aiden’s Dunes. At this point, we climb the dunes and walk into Seahouses alongside the road.
We will stop for lunch at Seahouses. If you like, you can get fish and chips. There is a terraced seating area, overlooking the harbour, to sit and eat. Or, you can choose to sit in.
Once we have finished lunch, we will leave Seahouses on the Northumberland Coastal Path, towards North Sunderland.
Northumberland Coastal Path
The Northumberland Coastal Path runs from Cresswell to Berwick upon Tweed. For this section it is also St Oswald’s Way. Unusually, at this point it doesn’t follow the coast and crosses fields inland. We will follow this route back to Bamburgh.
After we finish, we will head back into the village for tea and cake.
Hope to see you there.
