The Christmas Walk is our last walk of the year and a particular highlight. This year the walk will mark our 1 year anniversary of starting Strolls with Poles.
We will walk to the tree, which is decorated, at Dove Crag on Simonside. At the tree we will enjoy homemade Mulled Wine, mince pies and hot chocolate, and maybe even sing some carols. There might even be a light dusting of snow, if we are very lucky. Please feel free to bring something to share with the group.
The route is away from the car park and through Whitton and on towards Whittondean. From here we walk up towards Lordenshaws car park A short distance from here are examples of the ancient cup and ring markings. This is the usual start for a walk up Simonside, but the walk wouldn’t take long from here, hence the reason we start at Rothbury. We will continue up to Dove Crag, where we stop for refreshments. The return is via the wood and Whiton Hillhead farm, before joining the path we took earlier, to walk back to the car park.
We hope you can join us.
