Have you heard about Nordic Walking or seen people walking with poles? Do you like walking with a group of friendly like minded people?  Then why not learn to Nordic Walk at South Shields. If you want to read more about Nordic Walking then take a look our article “Why try Nordic Walking?“.

Learn to Nordic Walk session

The format for the session will be:

  • Completion of Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ);
  • Provision of a set of poles (properly set up according to your height);
  • A short introduction about Nordic walking, its benefits and its origin;
  • Instruction on steps 1-5 of the INWA 10 Step Method ™;
  • A 2-3 mile walk from Souter Lighthouse;
  • A cool down/stretching session.

Souter Lighthouse

 

The Start 

The start time of the session is 6.00 pm

We will meet in the car park situated near Souter Lighthosue.  Once you have completed the PARQ and been provided with a set of poles we will make our way to the grassed area next to Souter Lighthouse

You will then be taken through the first 5 steps of the INWA 10 step technique.

The walk

After the lesson we have found that the best way to get the most out of your session is to practice what you have learned by Nordic Walking, we will walk around 2-3 miles.
