Weldon and Felton Recce – 9th June 2018

On Saturday we had nothing to do, so decided to go up to Felton and recce thWeldon and Felton walk planned for the 30th June.  A bonus was that we could also check out The Running Fox tea room at Felton  and The Angler’s Arms at Weldon Bridge.  Lunch at The Running Fox first and then off we went.

St Michael and All Angels Church

The River Coquet and St Oswald’s Way

Weldon&Felton - WeldonFelton090618-4.jpegThis walk follows the River Coquet, between Felton and Weldon, along St Oswald’s Way.  This makes it easy to follow as the entire path is well marked all of the way.

The whole walk varies between woodland, fields, riverside and lanes.  At a couple of points we even walk through gardens.  A part of the walk has an alternative route along a permissive path.  This path took us closer to the river, where hundreds of damsel flies fluttered around the grasses.

Weldon Bridge and The Angler’s Arms

Weldon&Felton - WeldonFelton090618-9.jpegBy the time we reached Weldon Bridge the sun had definitely come out.  It had gotten very warm and the garden of The Angler’s Arms was the perfect place for a rest and some well needed refreshment, before heading back.

The walk

This is a fabulous and very varied walk, with something for everyone.  The flora and fauna were also varied and lovely to see.  We hope to see you all there.
